Dieser Hilfeartikel bezieht sich auf eine alte Version von Direct Mail.
You can view the source code for any HTML message in Direct Mail. Here's how:
- Choose Message > Show Source from the menu bar.
If you would like quick access to the "Show Source" menu item, you can use the keyboard shortcut or add the optional "Show Source" button to your toolbar (choose Window > Customize Toolbar).
Editing source code
In addition to viewing source code, you can also edit the source for HTML messages in Direct Mail that meet any of the following criteria:
- The message was imported into Direct Mail (from a file, webpage, or third-party app)
- The message was created using the Plain template
- The message was created using a legacy template (i.e. a template listed in the "legacy" section of the template chooser, including templates from Direct Mail 4 and templates from Apple Mail)
Exiting source code view
To exit source code view, choose Message > Hide Source from the menu bar.
If you are not able to edit the source code
There may be a couple of reasons why you are not able to edit the source code of a message:
- If the project you are editing has been shared with you by another user, then make sure that the owner of the project has given you "Edit" permissions. You can check your permissions by choosing File > Share… from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- If you are editing a message that was created using one of the new templates available in Direct Mail 5, then the source code will be available to view, but not edit. This is because these templates use a new flexible layout system that does not permit hand-editing of the source code. If there are customizations that you'd like to make to your message that cannot be made using Direct Mail's template editor user interface, please get in touch with us to suggest a feature enhancement.
